We do it for the animals.
We find them terrified, abandoned, dumped, emaciated, untrusting, and unloved to rescued, loved, healthy, and forever changed.
Turquoise Paw exists with the mission to rescue animals within the borders of the Navajo Nation to support efforts in population control and education, and most importantly, to provide the humane choice of no kill sheltering.
What Started It All
The Navajo reservation is the largest Native American reservation in the U.S. It is an expansive and beautiful place, but full of hardships. In an area about the size of West Virginia and only three Veterinarian offices, the stray dog and cat population is out of control with an estimated 250,000 strays.
It is with this in mind, the roots of Turquoise Paw Rescue began.

Educational Information
Our social and healthy animals get to partake in regular hiking activities while they are in our care. Somedays the adventurous hikes are muddier than others but the dogs love it all the same!

Join us in our mission of changing lives!
Resources for dogs and cats on the Navajo reservation are very limited. Emergency services are non-existent and immediate veterinary care is very difficult to come by. Volunteering a few hours is the greatest life-saving act that can be done for these rezdogs and cats in dire need of help. No matter how small the act, you will change a life. Get involved and find your place in Reservation Rescue!
